Family of 3 generations making tofu in Hoi An – Come to hear the stories and learn how to make tofu.
Among the delightful deserts in Hoi An, tào phớ (fresh tofu) í the most popular one. It’s a silky tofu pudding lusciously adorned with fragrant ginger syrup, creamy coconut milk, and occasionally topped with a refreshing layer of crushed ice. These authentic and freshly prepared desserts are also reimagined in modern variations at some cafes and dessert shops.
Hideaway in a small alley is a cozy house of a famous tofu maker. His grandfather started making tofu business nearly 100 years ago, and the recipe is passed down to him – the third generation. He will show you how to make the fresh tofu and top it with ginger syrup to become a tasty treat. Also, try to make some fried tofu which is a popular ingredient in Vietnamese vegetarian dishes.

It’s great to know that Bhutan Airlines will launch the first direct service to Vietnam, connecting HCMC and Paro in 2025. The plan to operate 10 round-trip flights annually using Airbus aircraft is quite exciting.
The cost for a round trip is expected to be around US$1,200 for business class and US$ 900 for the economy, providing more options for travelers between the two countries. This direct service will alleviate the current need to transit through Thailand or India. Paro Airport’s unique location, with an altitude of over 2,400 meters and surrounded by high mountains, definitely poses a challenge for landing and takeoff, making it one of the most challenging airports in the world.
