Day 1: Luang Prabang arrival

Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to the hotel for check – in.

This afternoon, enjoy a half day city tour begins with a visit to the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum, offering an in-depth history of Laos. Continue on foot to Wat Mai, a temple renowned for its golden bas-relief, and Wat Sensoukarahm, which features a beautiful dazzling golden façade. End this morning’s tour to Wat Xieng Thong, Laos’ most photographed temple. Next, heading to the centrally located Mount Phousi (transport provided) to climb the hills 328 steps. At the top of the hill, stunning panoramic views await, which are accentuated by the beautiful sunset. Upon descent, make a stop at the nearby Night Market before heading back to the hotel.  

Overnight in Luang Prabang.

After breakfast, this morning, we drive to Ban Phong Van about 5kms outside Luang Prabang on the road to the Kuang Xi waterfall, among lush rice fields and overlooked by wooded hills and mountains to join in a Living Rice Farm where they grow organic vegetables, salads, herbs and rice and supply leading restaurants and hotels in Luang Prabang. Coming here you will be shown how rice is grown on the farm, experience the life of a farmer and try your hand at some of the activities. Or just view it all from the comfort of our traditional Lao rice house balcony, which is surrounded by rice terraces and our organic vegetable farm. All the family can join in and there are great photos, after these activity, then we have lunch in the farm (a selection of typical Luang Prabang dishes and fruit).

After lunch, then excursion by car to visit Kuang Si waterfall. Upon reaching Kuang Si Waterfall, relax and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. The jungle and dense woods surrounding the falls are perfect for exploring on foot. For the adventurous, it is possible to walk to the top of the falls via a steep track where stunning views await. The pools at the base of the waterfalls are also great for swimming (please dress modestly). On the way back, there is an optional visit to the Free the Bears sanctuary, housing 23 Asiatic Bears that were rescued from poachers then return to Luang Prabang and free time at your leisure. 

Overnight in Luang Prabang.

For early risers, there is a very special dawn visit to watch the monk’s collecting alms. As the sun begins to rise, long lines of orange-robed monks leave their pagodas and walk barefoot down the streets collecting offerings from Luang Prabang residents. Afterwards, walk to visit local market then return to the hotel for breakfast. 

Breakfast at your hotel. A private car will take you to the boat pier to embark on a private boat journey upstream along the Mekong River. The trip will offer a beautiful view of the tranquil countryside and include a visit to the mysterious Pak Ou Caves. The two linked caves contain thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims. En route, we will stop at Ban Xang Hai, a village where the local specialty of rice wine is produced. On our way back to Luang Prabang we will stop at Ban Chang Khong, a village known for its weaving handicraft and Sa paper making. Free time at your leisure.

8:30 am Pick up and transfer to the local boat pier for embarking a local boat cruise down on the Mekong River to Ban Chan Village (Pottery Village) and meet Pottery House Lao Food staff .

9:00 am – 10:30 am Tour village pottery center and our village while learning about traditional Laos life. 

10:30 am – 11:40 am Private demonstration of Laos pottery techniques by local families followed by a hands-on opportunity for each guest. Kids have an opportunity to paint pre-made pots!

11:45 am  Enjoy an authentic Laos meal made from local ingredients

1:00 pm Return to Luang Prabang and you have free day at leisure and Overnight in Luang Prabang

Laos Airlines operates flight from Luang Prabang to Pakse every on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

This morning today, transfer to the Luang Prabang Airport for your departure flight by QV513 at 8:30-10:10 to Pakse. Upon arrival in Pakse, meet your guide and driver, transfer along the winding road ascending to the Bolaven Plateau, up here the air is much cooler. Formed by an ancient volcano and famous for its coffee and tea plantations, the Bolaven Plateau is home to a number of tribal villages including visit to a tea and coffee plantation. Later in the day, we will visit waterfalls including Tad Fane and Tad Lo, home to another scenic waterfall and numerous ethnic minority groups. We visit the villages of Alak, Nge, and Katu.

Overnight in Paksong.

After breakfast, transfer to meeting point at 9h:00am at Cc1971 Café in Paksong to enjoy your cup of coffee in the morning before driving to Tad Moun waterfalls. Paksong is a small town nestled right in the heart of the Boloven Plateau. Meet Mr Khamsone – local tour guide, hop on his jeep car to take a jeep tour along a rustic trail that passes through local bush and rolling farmland (including lettuce, ginger, cabbage…) on the way to Tad Moun cascade. On arrival, free at leisure at the waterfall.

11:00am: Trekking further toward Mr Khamsone farm Named: Mystic Mountain Coffee crossing glorious vegetation, and plantations. Arrive at his farm around 12h:30 pm and enjoy a local specialties lunch. 

In the afternoon, visit his coffee plantation to learn more about the production process. A young coffee tree is productive three to four years after planting. The shrub can then live for many decades. The crown is folded down to avoid excessive height development. When fruits reach maturity (six to eight months after flowering for arabica – nine to eleven months for robusta) the coffee harvest can begin. Two methods are used, picking or destemming. Then come the processes of drying, and roasting, this one developing the aroma and the final color of the coffee.

1:00pm: Khamsone will start roasting coffee 45 minutes 

2:00pm: Take a Jeep drive to Volcano (Phoukate) Phoukate it’s a death volcano was active since 50 – 60 million years ago 

From the top of Phoukate you will enjoy the panorama view 360. Then back to home stay in late evening by Jeep.

7:00pm: Dinner served at Mystic mountain homestay

8:00 am: After breakfast, take a jeep drive to visit Laven & Suay (bamboo village).
11:00 am: Continue driving to Bamboo waterfall
12:00 Arrive at Bamboo waterfall and break for a picnic lunch + swimming & relaxing time 2hrs. (Fruits & Beverages are provided)
2:00 pm: Continue trekking 1hrs to Dan Xinxai and enjoy photos
3:00 pm: Jeep transfer back to the original meeting point.

Afterwards, continue transferring by car to Khong Island, the largest of the Si Phan Don archipelago, the 4,000 islands then transfer to your hotel for check- in, the remain of your day is free at leisure.

Overnight in Khong Island.

Today, we explore the Siphandon region in southern Laos, known for its unique landscape where the Mekong River divides into numerous islands and islets. Board a long-tail boat to experience the vast Mekong during the dry season when the waters recede, revealing thousands of islets. Visit a local market, see Liphi Waterfall, and explore remnants of French colonial architecture.

Additionally, we’ll visit a local pagoda to learn about spiritual traditions and admire the temple architecture. Afterwards, enjoy free time and spend the night on Khong Island.

After breakfast, return to the fishing village of Ban Nakasang and head south to explore Khone Phapheng, considered the largest waterfall by volume in Southeast Asia. Located near the Laos-Cambodian border, Khone Phapheng is an awe-inspiring destination in an area rich with wildlife, making it one of the most breathtaking places in Laos. On your way back to Paksé, visit Ban Khoh, a village known for its stone sculpture expertise.

At the end of the day, explore Wat Phou, an ancient Khmer religious complex dating back to the 5th century. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Wat Phou is a spectacular pre-Angkorian temple situated amidst the rice fields and waterways of southern Laos. The temple served as the most important economic and political center of the region and remains one of the most revered temples in Laos. Afterwards, return to Pakse in the late afternoon and you have free time at leisure.

After breakfast, free day at your own exploration until transfer to the Pakse Airport for your departure flight to Siem Reap (Cambodia). Upon arrival, get picked up and transfer to the hotel for check in.

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Angkor Thom, the South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple, built from the late 12th century to the early 13th century by King Jayavarman VII and consists of 54 towers, the Royal Enclosure, the Phimeanakas, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Then Visit Preah Khan temple, built by King Jayavarman VII dedicated to his father. It is a huge, highly exportable monastic complex, and served as a Buddhist monastery and school, engaging over 1000 monks. In the afternoon, visit Ta Prohm, surrounded by jungle and followed by a visit to Angkor Wat, the largest temples in world and covers an area of 200 hectares and surrounded by moat and an exterior wall measuring 1300 meters x 1500 meters. 

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Breakfast at the hotel – Heading out of town, we make our way by traveling on a newly paved road to the intricately carved and well preserved temple of Banteay Srei. Along the way we make stopover at the Preah Dark village and we follow these with a visit the Banteay Samre Temple adorned with impressive relief’s depicting scenes of Vishunu as well as Krishna legends. 

In the afternoon, visit the Roluos Group. The monuments of Rolous, which served as the capital of Indravarman I (reigned 877-89. Preah Ko erected by Indravarman I in the late 9th century dedicated by the King to his ancestors in 880. Bakong, the largest and most interesting of the Roluos group temples, with his active Buddhist monastery just to the north of the east entrance. Lolei built on an islet in the center of a large reservoir (now rice fields) by Yasovarman I, the founder to the first city at Angkor. 

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Breakfast at hotel. Visit to Floating Village, take a ride by traditional wooden boat on Tonle Sap Lake to experience the human occupations at the edges of the lake is similarly distinctive – floating villages, towering stilled houses, huge fish traps, and an economy and way of life deeply intertwined with the lake, the fish, the wildlife and the cycles of rising and falling waters. 

In the afternoon, visit Wat Bo, a highly respected pagoda founded in the 18th century, contains very unique wall paintings of the Reamker (Ramayana) that are said to be from late 19th century. Continue to visit the “Les Artisans d’Angkor – Chantiers Ecole”, the Finest Authentic Khmer Arts and Crafts. End our visits at one of the city’s lively open markets, Psar Chars, also called the “Old Market”, where anything and everything is for sale. 

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Breakfast at the hotel, transfer to overland to Battambang (driving takes around 3 hours). Battambang is a classically quaint provincial capital – old-world architecture and even older pagodas set picturesquely along a river, and even though the city is one of the country’s largest, it is still lightly touristed. 

Upon arrival, check in the hotel. Later in this afternoon, we’ll enjoy bamboo train village with a great experiences of sliding on this funny train. 

Overnight at hotel in Battambang.

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive along the picturesque Sangker River to Wat Slaket Pagoda, the residence of the provincial Buddhist patriarch. Continue to visit Wat Ek Phnom. Visit a market where Prahoc, the Cambodian fish paste, is made. In the afternoon, drive to Phnom Sampeou Mountain, steeped in legend, and topped by Wat Sampeou and a group of caves used as ‘killing caves’ by the Khmer Rouge, containing the skeletal remains of their victims. We will also visit natural caves including spectacular. Later in this afternoon, we wait approximately 5-10 minutes for millions of bats to emerge from their cave. 

Then depart for Phnom Penh by overland transfer (290 km. 4-5 hrs drive). Stop at the Silversmith village, see the pottery manufactories in Kompong Chhnang and visit also a fish market.

Next and last stop is Oudong, the ancient Cambodian capital during the latter stages of the Khmer Empire and crowning site of many past kings. Consisting of a series of stupas atop a mountain, there are outstanding views across the surrounding plains below before arrival in Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. 

Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Breakfast at hotel. Drive to visit the “Killing Fields” of Choeng Ek (15 km south of Phnom Penh). Between 1975 and 1978 about 17,000 men, women, children and infants (including nine westerners) were detained and tortured at the S-21 prison and transported to extermination camp of Choeng Ek and followed by visiting to Independence monument for photo shooting and Central market of Psa Thmey market.  Then visit Tuol Sleng Museum (S-21 prison). This former school was used as a prison by Pol Pot’s security forces. More than 17,000 people held at S-21 were taken to the extermination camp at Choeng Ek to be executed. 

Afternoon, visit Royal Palace, which is a royal residence now where His Majesty, the King of Cambodia, and the royal families live. it is like a small town of royal dynasties. Continue to Silver Pagoda, serves less as a functioning temple than a repository for cultural treasures such as 90 kg golden Buddha encrusted with 2086 diamonds and followed by a visit to Wat Phnom Temple, one of the most important pagodas in Phnom Penh. Built in 1373 on an artificial hill by the wealthy widow Daun Chi Penh. 

Then visit Russian Market (Toul Tumpong Market), the market has gained reputation for cheap clothing, a large selection of Buddha images and woodcarvings, betel-nut boxes, silk, silver jewelry, and classic music instrument. 

Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Breakfast at the hotel – Get picked up and transfer overland to Sihanoukvill Port, where you will embark on a speedboat to the Island of Koh Rong.

After breakfast, embark on the speed boat back to Sihanoukville mainland port. Upon arrival, get  picked up by the driver and then transfer to Phnom Penh International Airport for your departure flight to your home country. Thank you very much for choosing us as your destinations.
