Day 1: Siem Reap arrival

Welcome to Siem Reap! Siem Reap, a resort town in northwestern Cambodia, is the gateway to the ruins of Angkor, the seat of the Khmer kingdom from the 9th–15th centuries. Angkor’s vast complex of intricate stone buildings includes preserved Angkor Wat, the main temple, which is pictured on Cambodia’s flag.

Upon arrival, get picked up and transfer to the hotel for check inn. Overnight in Siem Reap.

After breakfast, visit The South Gate of Angkor Thom: Bayon Temple, The Royal Enclosure, Phimeanaka, Elephant and Leper King Terrace. Continue to visit Ta Promh (the jungle temple). There are enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers which embrace themselves in the stone foundations of the structure giving the impression of man’s creation being reclaimed by the powerful forces of nature. 

In the afternoon, visit Thommanan, Chaosay Tevoda, Ta Keo: small, attractive temple in very good condition, built all the same time as Angkor Wat. Continue to Angkor Wat: The “7th Wonders’of the World”. World Heritage Site since 1992, famous for its beauty and splendor. Angkor Wat features the longest continuous bas-relief in the world, which runs along the outer gallery walls and narrates stories from Hindu mythology. In the early evening, you will be taken by Tuk Tuk, a small open-sided taxi common in Cambodia, to cruise around the suburb of Siem Reap town, and then to a local Pagoda for a blessing ritual by Buddhist monks for happiness, prosperity and safety for your journey.

Breakfast at hotel. Visit Banteay Srei, constructed at the late 10th century by a Brahmin counselor under a powerful king Rajendarvarman. It was loosely translated to Citadel of the woman, but it is a modern appellation that probably refers to the delicate beauty of the carvings and followed by Banteay Samre temple. En-route stop at Pre Rub (turn the body), which was constructed in late 10th century dedicated to Hindu gods. This reflects the common belief among Cambodians that funerals were conducted at the temple. 

Next, visit Preah Khan temple, built by King Jayavarman VII dedicated to his father. It is a huge, highly exportable monastic complex, and served as a Buddhist monastery and school, engaging over 1000 monks. Continue to Neak Pean, a small island temple located in the middle of the last Baray, constructed by a Khmer king in the Angkor area followed by Ta Som, a small classic Bayon style monastic complex consisting of a relatively flat enclosure.

Breakfast at hotel. Visit Floating Village, take a ride by traditional wooden boat on Tonle Sap Lake to experience the human occupations at the edges of the lake, which is similarly distinctive – floating villages, towering stilled houses, huge fish traps, and an economy and way of life deeply intertwined with the lake, the fish, the wildlife and the cycles of rising and falling waters. 

In the afternoon, visit Wat Bo, a highly respected pagoda founded in the 18th century, contains very unique wall paintings of the Reamker (Ramayana) that are said to be from late 19th century. Continue to visit the “Les Artisans d’Angkor – Chantiers Ecole” the Finest Authentic Khmer Arts and Crafts. End our visits at one of the city’s lively open markets, Psar Chars, also called the “Old Market”, where anything and everything is for sale.

Breakfast at the hotel – Visit the Angkor National Museum known as the grand entrance to a world-class heritage that reveals the glory of Angkor Civilization. This museum enhances the cultural heritage of the Golden Era of Khmer Kingdom through amassed collection of invaluable artifacts and through state of the art multimedia technology exhibition for a full picturesque legendary story. 

Transfer to overland to Battambang (driving takes around 3 hours). Battambang is a classically quaint provincial capital – old-world architecture and even older pagodas set picturesquely along a river, and even though the city is one of the country’s largest, it is still lightly touristed. 

Upon arrival, check in the hotel. Later in this afternoon, we’ll enjoy bamboo train village with a great experiences of sliding on this funny train.

Breakfast at the hotel: Drive along the picturesque Sangker River to Wat Slaket Pagoda, the residence of the provincial Buddhist patriarch. Continue to visit Wat Ek Phnom. Visit a market where Prahoc, the Cambodian fish paste, is made. In the afternoon, drive to Phnom Sampeou Mountain, steeped in legend, and topped by Wat Sampeou and a group of caves used as ‘killing caves’ by the Khmer Rouge, containing the skeletal remains of their victims. We will also visit natural caves including spectacular. Later in this afternoon, we wait approximately 5-10 minutes for millions of bats to emerge from their cave.

Breakfast at the hotel. Pick up at your hotel and depart for Phnom Penh by overland transfer (290 km. 4-5 hrs drive). Stop at the Silversmith village, see the pottery manufactories in Kompong Chhnang and visit also a fish market.

Next and last stop is Oudong, the ancient Cambodian capital during the latter stages of the Khmer Empire and crowning site of many past kings. Consisting of a series of stupas atop a mountain, there are outstanding views across the surrounding plains below before arrival in Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel  – Visit Royal Palace, which is a royal residence now where His Majesty, the King of Cambodia, and the royal families live. it is like a small town of royal dynasties. Continue to Silver Pagoda, serves less as a functioning temple than a repository for cultural treasures such as 90 kg golden Buddha encrusted with 2086 diamonds and followed by visit to Wat Phnom Temple, one of the most important pagodas in Phnom Penh. Built in 1373 on an artificial hill by the wealthy widow Daun Chi Penh. 

In the afternoon, visit Tuol Sleng Museum (S-21 prison). This former school was used as a prison by Pol Pot’s security forces. More than 17,000 people held at S-21 were taken to the extermination camp at Choeng Ek to be executed. Then visit Russian Market (Toul Tumpong Market), the market has gained reputation for cheap clothing, a large selection of Buddha images and woodcarvings, betel-nut boxes, silk, silver jewelry, and classic music instrument.

Your journey begins with a transfer to the Cardamom Tented Camp at Trapeang Rung. At 14:00, board a boat at the Trapeang Rung Resort Pier for a scenic 30-minute ride along the tranquil Preak Tachan River, arriving at the camp nestled deep in nature. 

Upon arrival, you’ll receive a warm welcome and a brief introduction to the conservation efforts led by Wildlife Alliance, learning how your visit directly supports the protection of the surrounding forest from illegal logging and hunting. Settle into your comfortable safari-style tent before choosing how to spend your afternoon—embark on a jungle hike, take a refreshing swim or kayak in the pristine river, or soar across it on a thrilling zip-line. As the day winds down, relax at the riverside restaurant and watch the sunset over Botum Sakor. Enjoy dinner and a peaceful overnight stay immersed in the heart of nature at Cardamom Tented Camp.

After an early breakfast, set out on a kayaking adventure to the old ranger station, where you’ll have the chance to explore forest trails teeming with life. Afterward, enjoy a leisurely walk back to camp, arriving just in time for lunch. The entire excursion takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace—whether that means zip-lining across the river, wandering nearby jungle paths, swimming in the crystal-clear waters, or paddling along the shady tributaries of the river. In the evening, unwind with dinner and spend another restful night surrounded by the serenity of Cardamom Tented Camp.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the camp. For early risers, the morning offers quiet moments to explore nearby jungle trails on a self-guided hike or sip coffee while kayaking through the misty river. Around 10:00 AM, board the boat for your return journey to Trapeang Rung. Upon arrival, you’ll be met by your driver (without a guide) for the transfer to the Sihanoukville pier. From there, embark on a speedboat to the idyllic island of Koh Rong, where you’ll spend the night surrounded by the gentle rhythm of island life.

After breakfast at resort. Check out and catch the speedboat back to the mainland. Upon arrival, you will be expected by a driver to transfer you to Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
